Approaches like the ‘ ADHD The Natural Way’ forward are all available through HET (Holistic Educational Therapy). A former teacher and behavioural psychologist with a radical vision, Linda Porter, developed HET over 10 years. It includes working with children with behavioural problems like ADHD without taking medication with potentially damaging side effects. It is ‘complementary’, which means it can go alongside conventional medication whithout causing any drug interaction.
The programme is extremely effective and looks at a gentler way of supporting problems and at the same time helping parents and families together. The programme can be accessed on a stand alone monthly basis or with individual help and therapy support from qualified HETs. Originally it was only available through professional organisations working with problem chidren, where it was proven consistently more than 84% effective and commended by the government department for standards in education (OFSTED).
HOWEVER HET has has only now become openly available to everyone on line. FREE resources are downloadable from the site which help to focus parents and children on some of the issues behind the problem, and what can be done to make life easier for everyone concerned.
The HET programme looks at helping families achieve desiarable behaviours together with their children. A step by step programme of intergrated complementary therapy commended for its effectiveness is available alongside a family fun based project programme to get involved in the natural environment. This is where children with these challenges peform best and how to encourage kindness in children towards others! If you know someone who may be interested in receiving this kind of assistance, do them a favour and pass on this information.
ADHD, or Attention Deficit Hyperactive Disorder is a condition which is characterised by certain behaviours, which can include:
The inability to complete a task; being unable to focus on what is on hand; being fidgety; constantly on the go;. Restless - to mention just a few! This can be further complicated by acts of aggression to those around them, defiance, impulsive behaviours little concern for consequences and the list goes on.
There are ways of officially measuring how far someone is down the road with these symptoms through checklists like the Connor’s Scale for example- and very often this is the first step to getting a child statemented as needing special help and can also lead to the prescribing of certain types of medication which are openly acknowledged as having harmful side effects.
From HET experience, children with these behaviours respond very well to a natural programme, both in terms of natural remedies to support the symptoms and cause of ADHD etc but which also takes them out of the confines of the classroom, either out into the natural environment like HET Eco-Therapy or PHEW: Physically Holistic Exercise Workout, or which works with animals and 'random acts of kindness' concepts. Having a HET PET friend to identify with from their stories or behaviours, can help a child understand more about themselves. It is also designed to help understand how to help themselves with simple things like the Bach Flower Remedies for emotional support – good, diet, fitness and exercise etc.

Willow story is available from this website as a FREE downloadable DVD and interactive pack of materials to start the programme off. Tommy, our ‘bad lad’ turned good – ends the story by taking children to the animal sanctuary – The Willow Bridge!
This brings us to the ‘Snow Friends’ project – a ‘real life’ and ‘animal based’ episode of ‘Friends!’ This is a great way to intoduce families to the programme and to get grown ups, experiencing the benefits of the HET approach as well through the ‘Personal Holistic Happiness Programme’ which sponsors the ‘Snow Friends’ Project and was the forerunner of HET, originally designed to help manage stress in the workplace, it has derived success in helping people turn their lives around in very simple ways.
